Privacy notice

What we collect, and why.

NetVortex counts visits to netvortex.co.uk without cookies. Our web host also keeps request logs, including IP addresses, that we can see for a day. We use enquiries only to reply, keep a record and see how people find us. If you become a client, we also use your details to do the work and invoice you.

This notice covers netvortex.co.uk and the ways you can get in touch with us: the enquiry form, email, phone, WhatsApp and video calls. It also covers our client records. How we work with clients is set out in our terms.

Who's responsible for your information?

NetVortex is the trading name of Brandon Fisher. He is responsible for the personal information collected through this site, for what you send or tell us by email, phone, WhatsApp or video call, and for our client records. In data protection law, that makes him the data controller.

If you have a question about this notice, write to us at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, email info@netvortex.co.uk or call 07903 002125.

Counting visits, without cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we can see which pages are actually useful. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. That's why there's no cookie banner on this site.

For each page view it records:

  • the page address, minus anything after a ? or #, so tracking codes added to links are left out of the counts;
  • the date and time;
  • the website you came from, if you followed a link from another site;
  • your rough location (country, region and city);
  • your device type, browser and operating system.

Vercel briefly uses your IP address and browser details to work out that rough location, and to make a short-lived identifier so one visit isn't counted twice. The identifier is discarded after 24 hours. We only ever see totals, such as how many people visited a page.

We don't use any of this to identify you or build a profile of you, and none of it is used for advertising or to follow you around other websites. We rely on our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful. Vercel Inc. runs the service for us and may process this information on servers in the United States, under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Opting out

The button below stops your visits being counted in this browser. Your browser remembers the choice by keeping a small note of it. That note is the only cookie or similar storage this site uses. Press the button again to opt back in.

The note stays until you opt back in or your browser's stored data is cleared. Some browsers, Safari among them, delete it themselves if you haven't used this site for a while. If that happens, you'll need to opt out again. Your choice only applies to this browser, so if you use another browser or device, opt out there too. If JavaScript is switched off, the button won't work, but nothing is counted either.

Our web host's logs

Vercel hosts this site. Each time your browser asks for a page, Vercel receives your IP address and browser details. It needs them to send the page back and to block attacks on the site.

Vercel also keeps logs of these requests. They record your IP address, the page you asked for, the page you came from, the time and your browser. Unlike the visit counts, the logs include anything after a ? in the page address, such as a tracking code added to a link. We can look at the logs for one day, to find and fix problems with the site.

We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure. Vercel handles this for us and may process it in the United States, under the same safeguard as visit counting.

The fonts, images and scripts on this site all load from the site itself. Apart from Vercel, nothing here makes your browser contact another company.

Reviews from Google

The reviews quoted on this site come from our Google listing. We quote them word for word, with each reviewer's permission. If you wrote one of them and change your mind, tell us and we'll take it down.

The star rating and review count beside them come from our own server, which refreshes them from Google about once a day. Nothing about you is sent to Google when it does, and your browser doesn't contact Google to show the rating. We show each reviewer's initial rather than their Google photo, so no images load from Google either.

If you follow a link through to Google to read or leave a review, Google's own privacy policy applies there.

When you get in touch

If you contact NetVortex through the enquiry form, we need your name, email address and message so we can reply. Your business name, phone number and how you heard about us are optional.

We read every enquiry ourselves. We use what you send only to reply to you, to keep a record of the work, and to see how people find us. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and running the business. The same applies if you email us, phone us, message us on WhatsApp or talk to us on a video call.

If you become a client, we also use your details, and what you and your team tell us, to do the work and to invoice you. This notice covers the people on your team who join our calls and online training sessions too.

Who else handles it

The form travels over an encrypted connection to Vercel's servers in London. From there, Resend, the service that sends our website's emails, delivers it to our inbox. Resend processes it in the United States, protected by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and by standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum.

Our inbox is Google Workspace, run by Google. Google may store email outside the UK, including in the United States, under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

WhatsApp is run by Meta, and its own privacy policy applies to messages sent through it.

Our video calls use Google Meet, a Google service. Google receives the names and email addresses on the call's invitation. During the call, it also handles your voice, your video if your camera is on, any chat messages and anything you share on screen, plus the technical details it needs to connect you, such as your IP address. Google may process this outside the UK, including in the United States, under the same UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework as our inbox.

How long we keep it

If an enquiry doesn't lead to any work, we delete it once we no longer need it for the reasons above. If you become a client, we keep your records while we work together, then for as long as the law requires for tax and accounts.

The AI readiness check

The AI readiness assessment adds up your score in your own browser. It doesn't ask for your name or email address, and it doesn't save your answers.

Your rights

You can ask us:

  • what we hold about you, and for a copy of it;
  • to correct it;
  • to delete it;
  • to limit how we use it;
  • to send it to you, or to another organisation, in a format a computer can read.

Your right to object. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to how we use your information at any time. For visit counting, the opt-out button above does that for you.

To use any of these rights, email info@netvortex.co.uk. We'll reply within one month. Some of them depend on why we hold the information. For example, we can't delete records the law says we must keep for tax and accounts.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first by emailing info@netvortex.co.uk. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as soon as we can. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

If anything here changes, such as a new service that handles your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
